The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) Course

This takes the Assistant Instructor (AI), Instructor with another training organization or person attending a whole IDC program the next step in their PADI Instructor Development. OWSI Candidates joining an Indepth IDC program would only be required to attend the last 6 days.

During the OWSI course you will learn more about the PADI System and the courses which it is made up of, PADI Standards and the role of media and prescriptive teaching.
PADI IDC Confined Water Briefing
There will be an Indepth look at the courses which you can teach as a PADI OWSI, and how to actually run them, such as: Discover Scuba Diving, Scuba Diver, Specialty Diver, Adventure Diver, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Divemaster and the various diver retention programs as well as important information on teaching children, legal responsibility and risk management and some business principles for YOU – the dive instructor.
In both Confined Water and Open Water we will show you how to teach various Continuing Education Courses and skills, such as the Rescue Diver Course in Confined Water, and Search & Recovery, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Adventures in Diving and some more Rescue Diver Course assignments in Open Water.

Candidates will also become familiar with Lift Bag use, Knot Tying, Pocket Mask use and a variety of other useful skills !
PADI IDC Skill Demonstration Fin Pivot Low Pressure Inflator - LPI
Requirements for certification include: a minimum passing score in one Prescriptive Teaching Knowledge Development presentation, one Confined Water presentation, one Open Water presentation (2 skills), the PADI skill circuit, the 800m snorkel swim, the Assistant Instructor Standards Exam and an IE Dive Theory pre-assessment exam.

Upon successful completion of this program you will receive authorization to attend the Instructor Examination.

REMEMBER: prior to the start of an IDC, AI or OWSI course the candidate must have completed ALL 16 IDC Knowledge Reviews from the “Independent Learning” section of the IDC Candidate Workbook.


The PADI Instructor Crossover Course – the OWSI program
The OWSI program allows Instructors already certified with a recreational diving training agency other than PADI to “crossover” to PADI.

This is a great way to take advantage of market demands and be able to offer your employers and customers PADI courses and programs as well as your current certifying agency.

The course comprises of the last 6 days of an Indepth IDC, thus candidates joining an existing IDC program would attend only the final 6 days …
